Playmakers Youth Theatre
Musical Theatre (School Yrs 4–7)
Our specialised musical theatre sessions are designed to enable participants to develop their skills, knowledge and passion in all elements of the creation of musical theatre productions.
Under the guidance of local award winning musical theatre writers Amies and Clements, participants will work with original compositions to create their very own musical theatre performances.
In the sessions participants will explore:
- Acting skills for musical theatre;
- Choreography;
- Creating new stories;
- Games for rehearsals;
- Performing on stage;
- Singing technique;
- Working with others;
Participants will apply their learning in sessions when working collaboratively with their fellow participants on traditional musical theatre songs and scripts, and when creating their own original work.
Throughout the year there will be opportunities for participants to create and perform new works at Theatre Royal Winchester and our annual Outdoor Arts festival, Hat Fair.

We aim to provide all groups 10 sessions per term.
Free Taster
Not sure if our groups are right for you? Participants (and their parents/guardians) are most welcome to come along for a free taster session and see what we get up to. If you'd like to attend a free taster session, please contact shian@playtothecrowd.co.uk
Financial Support
We hope that our prices are affordable, but we understand that it may not be affordable for everyone. We are able to offer financial support (such as bursaries) to new and existing members for whom the price is a barrier to joining Playmakers Youth Theatre.
