Winchester Wordwalk Launch & Open Mic DIY Cabaret

This year during various shades of lockdown, a group of Winchester & District and visiting writers came together online to celebrate real world places and spaces in and around Winchester that mean something special to them.

Their aim was to use lockdown to create an imaginative trail of inspirational places for others to visit and experience when Winchester opened up again.

Now Playmakers is delighted to invite existing, emerging and entirely new members of our Writing to Play Network to an Evening of Words, Walks & Whatever Happens to launch the online interactive Winchester Wordwalk installation.

We’ll celebrate the work of our Wordwalk Writers, explore how the online trail works and what comes next in the real world, followed by an informal and relaxed Open Mic session in the Cafe Bar at Theatre Royal Winchester where anyone can share short poems, stories, dialogues, anecdotes, ideas, performance pitches (no more than 5 minutes please) about/for special Winchester & District places and spaces, real or imagined, compered by our Resident Writer Richard Hurford.
